Festival of cultures in Borbón
On January 16th, 2009 Proyecto Visión e.V. organized a festival in Borbón (province of Esmeraldas), that spread the idea of a cultural centre in the whole region. The festival was organized in cooperation with the Swiss association "cuisine sans frontières" and it was filmed by a crew of the organization ALER.
The connection and cooperation between schools in Mannheim and elementaries in Borbón were the centre of this part of the whole project. The story workshop with Clown Phantasie, part of the anniversary of the city of Mannheim in 2007, was the founding idea for this. Clown Phantasie collected children’s wishes for a better world. There were different workshops on this topic in Jungbuschschule in Mannheim in 2009 and in a similar way also in kindergarten St. Alfons.
Cultural differences, especially in the relation to the environment and the homeland were the main focus of this work. Experiences could be recorded in dance, music and other arts. A small book of drawings, texts and photos from the German children was brought from Mannheim to Borbón in January of 2009 and was exchanged there for drawings and stories from Ecuadorian children.
The final element of the project in 2009 was a exposition titled „Meine Welt - Deine Welt - Eine Welt" in Tulla Realschule in Mannheim. The exposition consisted of all the works children from both countries had done so far. Along with the exposition German musicians "Coleümes" together with Ecuadorian trio "Los Madera Metalicos" made up a fitting supporting program. The Metalicos are three young teachers, musicians and build instruments. They are concerned for a while now to preserve the culture of the Afro- Ecuadorians and the Chachi (an indigenous population group) in the area of Borbón. The Metalicos will also be head of the planned cultural centre.
