An experience in the rainforest
Ecuador is among one of the countries with the highest biodiversity. Its tropic forest make up a big part of the "green lung" of our planet. In the province of Esmeraldas the forest is also the natural foundation for the life of the indigenous people and the Afro-Ecuadorians. Industrial nations have used this unique environment as a reserve for natural resources for al long time now and in this way it is slowly getting destroyed today. Cocoa-, coffee- oil plants, the cultivation of prawns, the gold- and mineral oil-overexploitation and finally the deforestation of precious woods destroy gigantic woodland area every day. Musician Papá Roncón is afraid of this kind of development: „They Started to sell 200 year old trees for only 5 Dollar. If this continues the foundation of our lives will be gone in a few years."
A cultural centre in Borbón
Especially in the more recent past also the industrial nations get to feel the global climate change as one of the fatal results of destroying the rainforest. The aim of Proyecto Visión to put musical tradition, living culture and the preservation of biological diversity into concrete projects. We want to bulid a cultural centre in the small coastal town Borbón in the delta of the river Cayapas (province of Esmeraldas). Together with the local people we want to develop the necessary to protect the rainforest and to support their cultural and economic independence. In Germany we want to raise attention for the ecologic, social and politic problems that the globalization caused in Ecuador. By communicating between the continents we should learn together how to treat nature responsibly. This way we want to protect the rainforest, the "green lung" of our planet earth
Unlimited exchange as inspiration
Cultural exchange can increase awareness and help working constructive or creative with problems that would endanger our world. Experience and acceptance of cultural diversity are the foundation for a combined effort for a world that is worth living. And not only in Europe but worldwide. To preserve our culture or culture we also need to preserve the foundation of our -- and this is nature.
